“Requirements and Provisions for the Priest-in-Charge
This post will be ideal for a newly retired priest wishing to continue active ministry in this very attractive part of rural France and ASV Council envisage a three day week including Sundays.
The Priest-in-Charge should have some knowledge of French to deal, for instance, with ecumenical relationships, funeral services etc. and to understand the cultural contexts in which ASV operates. Notwithstanding this, help from the Council and congregations is always available, especially in sorting out registration into the health and tax systems. Health insurance will be provided.
ASV will provide furnished accommodation with a minimum of two bedrooms and space for an office. All expenses in the service of ASV will be reimbursed including car insurance, servicing and running costs; telephone and ADSL costs; postage, stationery, etc.
A car will be provided so a current driving licence is essential. Although it is a large Pastoral Area, the roads are good and there is little traffic so distance soon goes by without hassle. Even if a long journey is required, there are always people ready to offer hospitality, a coffee or even a meal at the other end. A computer and printer will be provided as much of the day to day communication is carried out by e-mail.
Although there is no stipend available at the moment, the Council of ASV would like to explore the possibility of offering a part-stipend in the future.
